IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is the most recognized English test for study, immigration or work around the world. It helps universities, employers and governments assess your English listening, reading, speaking and writing skills.
According to IELTS.org, the test exists in two types: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. You should first check what type of exam is required with the organization you're applying to.
If you're a professional or pursuing a higher degree, IELTS Academic test is recognized by many professional or academic organizations.
IELTS General training test assesses your basic survival skills and is required for migration to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK.
The test is divided into 4 sections: listening, reading, speaking and writing. The total exam duration is around 2 hours and 45 minutes. The subjects of the Reading and Writing sections differ, depending on which type you are taking IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training.
IELTS results are easy to understand, they are reported as band scores on a scale from 1 (Non-user) to 9 (Expert user). According to the British council website in Lebanon, you will usually get your results 13 calendar days from your test date if you have taken the paper-based test, and 5 to 7 calendar days from your test date if you have taken the computer-based test.
